“You want to shop and live near places that actually mean things to people; places that have a real effect on communities. You can feel when someone really cares about the neighborhood they’re running a business in.”

As consumers we have the power to support what matters to us.

There are thousands of locally run Irish businesses out there to discover from hairdressers to knitters, from candle makers to bakers, from pubs to farmers markets. Here's how you can get involved and show your love for local!

WHAT YOU CAN DO AS A CONSUMER

1.

BUY LOCAL & SUPPORT SMALL BUSINESSES

The number one thing we are asking customers to do is to choose local on the weekend of 27-29th of November. This can be buying directly from a local farmer at a market, treating yourself to coffee and cakes from a local cafe or buying a gift or gift voucher from a local craft shop, to name a few! The options are endless!

2.

LEARN MORE ABOUT THE LOCAL BUSINESSES IN YOUR AREA

Check out what businesses you have in your locality and see what is on offer. Set aside a time to explore what businesses run within your 5 km. If buying online, narrowing your google and social media searches using location and hashtags can often result in finding hidden gems.

3.

REVIEW & SHARE YOUR EXPERIENCE

In the lead up to the Green Friday weekend we are encouraging everyone to share favourite stories and experiences of their local small businesses. on social media and tagging us @greenfridayireland and using the hashtags.
